Older brother to Oliver. Arthur is a fisherman who lives by himself near The Dockyards. He spends his nights trawling for fish while the air is breathable, and his days selling his catch in the Harbor Ward.
Whether the result of a grudge or just sheer misfortune, Arthur found himself briefly held hostage as part of Black Light retaliation against the Dockworkers Union during Chapter II of our story. Fortunately for him, our party came to his rescue.

Some of Black Lights employees appear to be rather monstrous... and it has become increasingly clear that the company has formed some sort of partnership with the feared Bloody Butterfly. How such a partnership came to be is unknown, and what will come of it remains to be seen.

The popular nickname for a mysterious serial killer currently at large in Vesper Ridge. Their identity and motive are both unknown, but the pattern of their killings seems to target mages and authority figures. So far, the constabulary has been completely foiled in its attempts to catch this killer. The citys newspapers, especially the popular Forum Square Gazette, report on the Bloody Butterflys rampage in lurid detail.
The Butterflys recent crimes include the destruction of a Customs Bureau office and the bizarrely ritualistic murder of Poor Jimmy Ashcroft on the steps of Cairwick Chapel. Eyewitness accounts describe this mysterious figure as “like a walking ghost” and apparently faceless or somehow invisible beneath their (or its?) black veil. This description was recently corroborated for the party by one Mr. Cortis, an undertaker whose place of business the Butterfly recently ransacked in the process of conducting some sort of dark ritual. Apparently, the Bloody Butterfly seeks to “create worshipers” for itself.

A name mentioned by the Bloody Butterfly, apparently associated with the Black Light Mining Company. It seems the two know each other, and that the Butterflys patience is wearing thin.

When the Black Light Mining Company attacked The Dockyards in Chapter II of our story, Mortimer did not hesitate to take up arms in resistance.

Survivors of rhodofolia vapor poisoning describe the experience as vividly hallucinatory, inducing feelings of euphoria “like falling under a spell,” and claim that the algae itself smells irresistibly sweet once youve caught a whiff of its vapors.
Mysteriously, mercifully, all of the rhodofolia in the Sea of Wine vanishes as the sun goes down, leaving the waters safe for fishermen to trawl during the nighttime hours. And then, when the sun rises again, the algae rapidly materializes with the morning light. Whatever happens to the algae at night is currently unknown to science.
Additional information: It was observed by Aelie Moondew and M-41D that the algae does not secrete its corrosive enzymes mindlessly, but rather as a deliberate process in response to the presence of suitable prey. When a captured supplicant fell into the water, its fleshy organic body was dissolved in a matter of minutes, but M-41Ds inorganic fingers conjured no like response when submerged.

A large aquatic creature, more or less cephalopod in appearance, which apparently lurks within the Sea of Wine. Encountered by our party in Chapter II during a Black Light attack on The Dockyards, this monstrosity seeks to lure its victims into the Rhodofolia- choked waters via telepathic suggestions.

title: Supervisor Invar

A mid-level Black Light boss, slain by our party in The Dockyards during a gunfight between Black Light mercenaries and dockworkers. His exact role within the company prior to his death is unclear. Invars performance in combat was being monitored (and judged) by the Bloody Butterfly. The Butterflys threats, coupled with our partys superiority in combat, set Invar fleeing (unsuccessfully) for his life during his last moments in this world.

title: Supplicants

The name of a malformed sort of creature discovered by the party in the basement morgue below Cortiss funeral home. Though the supplicants exact nature is unknown, their jagged teeth and nails, burning hot breath, and mess of scar tissue in place of eyes or noses clearly mark them as something unnatural. According to Cortiss testimony, they were created by the Bloody Butterfly.
Malformed creatures discovered by our party in the basement morgue below Cortiss funeral home. Formerly innocent people of The Hallowed Lands, these abominations have been twisted by the Bloody Butterfly through magic unknown, born anew in fire and pain. Their jagged teeth and nails, burning hot breath, and eyeless scarred faces are suited for little other than carrying out their masters grisly agenda.
